The 20th CIPD People Management awards celebrate outstanding achievements in HR and L&D
Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust was awarded the overall prize at this year’s CIPD People Management Awards for its outstanding employee engagement initiative.
The organisation was also crowned winner of the Best Employee Engagement Initiative category for their campaign to improve patient safety and experience at Wexham Park Hospital.
The campaign was launched to tackle insufficiencies in organisational culture, performance management and elements of employee behaviour at Wexham Park. Frimley Health created a programme of clear and well-structured HR-led interventions that spanned a wide range of areas, from culture and leadership to reward and customer service.
All judges agreed that the project was a shining example of extremely ambitious and comprehensive organisational transformation, reflected in the Care Quality Commission’s (CQC) rating of Wexham Park Hospital changing from ‘inadequate’ to ‘outstanding’ earlier in the year.
This year’s awards, which were hosted by actor and comedian Stephen Mangan, featured 19 categories that recognised the very best of HR and L&D practice.
Peter Cheese, the CIPD’s chief executive, said: “This year has been a year of great change, and it’s fantastic to see HR teams stepping up to new challenges and being so innovative in their approaches to people management and development that are having a lasting impact on businesses.
“All of our winners should be very proud of what they have achieved and their much deserved recognition across a wide range of categories. As the overall winner, Frimley Health’s HR initiative was literally lifesaving, was remarkably well executed and has been a key part of improving the rating and performance of the hospital. We congratulate them and all of our other winners.”
Mike Beesley, chief executive of Resource Management – the award’s headline sponsor – said: “For every year that we have been involved in the awards, we have been hugely impressed with the talent and quality of those who enter across all of the categories, and this year was no exception. We offer our full congratulations to all of those who received an award.”
